Michael Weatherly talks about the Tryall fund

TRYALL FUND INITIATIVES

The Tryall Fund was formed in the early 1960s as a vehicle through which members and friends of the Tryall Club could contribute to the community health, education and welfare activities in the Parish of Hanover, Jamaica. The Tryall Fund is primarily supported by Tryall Club members, who feel a deep affinity for the Jamaican people and for the communities neighboring the Club.

This connection is cemented by the direct involvement of its wonderful and generous volunteer board and committee members. With their help, nearly 100% of the money raised goes into the charity projects. The Fund stays focused on four main initiatives, with our "Success by Six" program currently the most extensive and comprehensive in changing and shaping lives thus creating opportunities for individuals and communities.

Sandy Bay Evening Clinic

Success By Six

Success by Six is an early childhood initiative to provide preschool children ages 3-5 with a strong foundation to help them gain the tools necessary to achieve success in school which translates into success in later life. SBS serves seven Basic Schools with 320 students in Hanover Parish. We believe in educating “the whole child“ which means every child is healthy, safe, engaged, supported and challenged. We focus on the intellectual, emotional, social, and physical development of each student.

Sandy Bay clinic was built in the 1970s on land donated by the Tryall Club. Tryall Fund subsidizes the clinic staff for two evenings per week. The clinic offers family-planning education, prenatal care, child wellness care, and wound care. It is the only evening clinic in all of Hanover Parish

Our annual dental clinic offers free dental care to school children,Tryall Club employees and community members. The volunteer team of dentists, oral surgeons, dental hygienists, dental assistants and volunteers provide examinations, x-rays, cleanings, restorations, extractions and instruction in proper oral hygiene care at two temporary clinic sites, The Hopewell Christian Deliverance Center, and the Tryall club. All patients receive toothbrushes, toothpaste, floss and educational material. We are seeing a steady improvement in the oral health of the children!

The Tryall Fund provides scholarships to qualified students in high school, sixth form, community college, and University. Since the inception of the scholarship program, we have steadily  increased the number of scholarships awarded.  With the awarding of monies in 2021 the Tryall Fund Scholorship Initiative surpassed the historic MILLION DOLLAR mark.

The fund has now helped 1,715 students realize their dreams with the total awarded being USD $1,714,000

The Tryall Fund in collaboration with several local charities, built a sports complex and community center in the town of Hopewell. It consists of a homework center, multi-purpose room, boxing gym, and refurbished sports field, netball courts, and features. It will benefit and improve the lives of more than 10,000 community residents.
